JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity to join a busy State Department as a Town Planner.

Your new company
Our client is a Queensland State Government Department who provides various construction services to both Brisbane and the wider Queensland community. Due to a peak in workload and increase in Department, Infrastructure and Capital Works funding, they are looking to add a number of Town Planners to their team to help assist with the increased workload.

Your new role
You have an exciting opportunity to work as a Town Planner for a busy State Government department in a long-term contract role. You’ll be given a range of tasks and duties such as conducting initial site analysis, master planning as well as reviewing and suggesting revisions for Development Applications within your department. A unique aspect of this role is the varied scope of work and opportunity to work across both new and existing sites and applications. You’ll be involved in feasibility studies and stakeholder engagement, with a goal to effectively coordinate approvals and work to timeframes. The role will be rewarding in its diversity and the ability to create a positive difference in Queensland’s future.

What you'll need to succeed
Successful candidates will have a tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a relevant Architectural field. Ideally, candidates will have had exposure to a range of Government projects with preferred specialisation across Education projects and DA proposals such as schools, Universities, TAFE or Educational Facilities. Ideally, you will have exposure to working directly with a State Government Department in a similar Town Planning capacity. You will need to show strong understanding and application of relevant Planning legislation to be successful in this role in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role would ideally suit a Town Planner who has had a few years’ experience in working on various Government proposals in either a public sector capacity or for a private consultancy.

What you'll get in return
Our client is offering an attractive hourly rate, paired with a long term contract and the opportunity for further extension. The workload is varied and interesting, you’ll be continually challenged, and every day will be unique. You have an opportunity to work on a number of influential projects in a supportive work environment with likeminded individuals.
