  • Salary $81,453.32 – $94,486.23 p/a + super
  • Cert IV WHS or extensive WHS experience essential
  • 18 month fixed term contract
Located 16 kms north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 127,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety Project Officer to develop and implement complex initiatives across our WHS management programs and systems.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Corporate Risk & Assurance, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Facilitation of a WHS Management System Plan that involves planning for operations and programs, audit requirements, reporting and tracking, and
  • Management of electronic training databases and coordination
  • Driving a WHS culture through leadership programs, reviewing of policies and compliance, and management of WHS committees
  • Overseeing the WHS training plan by establishing Mental Health and Wellness programs, as well as Emergency management and Safety programs
Required Experience & Skills
  • Tertiary qualification at a Cert IV or higher level in Work Health & Safety or extensive work related experience in the WHS field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the interpretation and implementation of Acts, Regulations, Policies and Codes of Practice and Australian Standards relevant to WHS
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and application of WHS management programs and processes within local government or similar organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management databases and reporting, including formulating and reviewing investigation, inspection and worksite assessment documents and delivery of training programs
  • Current Class C driver's licence and StateCover WHS White card
  • First Aid Certificate and Return to Work Certificate or willingness to undertake.
