JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose 

The purpose of the Electrical Engineer role is to design and develop safety systems for industrial lifting equipment based on a range of embedded systems, by following and understanding the project life cycle to produce safety equipment in an efficient manner and by minimizing defects.

Duties And Responsibilities  

The position is being offered on a full-time basis, with work hours totally 38 hours weekly.

The required duties are essential to the company’s operations. It is important to ensure that all duties are carried out to a high standard.

The duties that are involved in this role are:

● Participate in project planning sessions with other engineers and help in the creation of project plans to develop electrical equipment and to meet customer requirements 

● Design, develop, code, test and debug electrical modules such as SPM & ECUs to enable safety functions and display real time load related parameters 

● Perform unit and acceptance testing to ensure load management electrical modules are fault free and in line with customer requirements and Australian compliance standards 

● Determine the most optimal solution to meet customer requirements 

● Implement electrical and software designs on the required embedded platform architecture while following the project plan 

● Design and develop cable harness for a range of electrical modules using wiring harness software such as RapidHarness 

  • Update necessary embedded system firmware based on the hardware schematics of safety modules
  • Perform required unit and acceptance testing to ensure electrical modules are fault free and meet the desired requirements 

● Create documentation to enable production by EQSS staff members and to support customer installation and service 

● Provide a supporting role in day-to-day activities such as EQSS product manufacturing, supply and customer support 

Reporting  

This position reports to the senior engineers.

Selection Criteria

The skills required in this role are:

● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering 

  • Knowledge of project planning in relation to electrical/electronics equipment development
  • Problem-solving skills to debug faults in design by self and others, and provide or implement solutions 

● Knowledge of hardware schematics 

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the design of cable harness using RapidHarness
  • Minimum of 3 years CAN bus experience including PCAN explorer, Qt, Bashing, C, and C++ embedded firmware development and Nodejs 

● Knowledge of embedded operating systems such as Yocto 

● Ability to operate in both a Windows and Linux environment 

● Communicates well within a team and to customers 

● Understands and can take directions 

● Ability to work independently and in a team environment 

● Awareness of OH & S issues and requirements 

Full training on all EQSS procedures, systems, and components will be provided under experienced supervision.

Remuneration 

The successful candidate will be offered a salary package of $54,000 + super.
