About The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Engineering Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) projects team. The team delivers projects, each typically up to a maximum USD$15M in value, across our various operations. The projects are multi-discipline in nature.

Reporting to the Lead Project Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing input into the NPI Engineering projects portfolio and the related budgets, plans and schedules.
  • Where required, supporting feasibility studies, cost-benefits analysis, impact assessments and project business cases to obtain project approvals.
  • Project management of allocated projects from initiation through to closeout. Monitoring of scope, budget, schedule, standards, and specifications in accordance with relevant processes and BHP Small Project Management Framework.
  • Regular project reporting and status updates.
  • Production of specified key project documentation in a timely manner to an appropriate quality.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development including supporting safe execution of the works and undertaking quality field leadership activities
  • Cultivating positive relationships through effective engagement, communication and consultation.
Location

This role is on offer as a Perth Based work arrangement, with flexible work considered with the successful candidate. Regular site travel will be expected as part of the overall project delivery process.

About You

Drawing on your previous experience in delivering small projects (value up to USD$15M), you will have a solid understanding of the full lifecycle of Project Management. Your natural confidence and exceptional interpersonal skills will enable you to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, which will be key in communicating progress and ensuring project alignment to stakeholder requirements.

Strong aptitude in commercial and contractor management will be highly regarded as you will be required to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders. The ability to work autonomously and efficiently will be essential for this role.

Given the nature of the current portfolio, experience would be desirable in the following areas:
  • High Voltage Electrical; or
  • Camp/Residential Housing; or
  • Water infrastructure projects.
Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering would be highly regarded. Alternatively, a strong trade background with demonstrable construction experience would also be favourable for this position. A C-Class driver’s license will be a mandatory requirement for this position.
