We are currently seeking a Safety Assurance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing System Safety Cases and working with customers and authorities on the Alstom methodology for Safety Management and Safety demonstration. Specifically, this position will concentrate on delivering Alstom Safety Assurance commitments for our projects in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities for this Role Include:

  • Coordinate all the Safety Assurance activities on the project / system / product as per Safety process defined in Signalling Safety Instruction.
  • Perform Safety analysis, manage Hazard Log, review RAM, Cyber, V&V, T&C activities from a Safety perspective.
  • Define safety plan and manage safety workload and associated planning.
  • Support tenders and/or RC teams to integrate product/system in projects.
  • Build the Safety Reports and/or the Safety Cases.
  • Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification and validation) defined for the project / system / product.
  • Organize and attend periodic Safety Reviews.
  • Defend Safety Case argumentations in front of internal (QS, Safety Assessor) and external (ISA) assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close the findings of the assessors.
  • Manage (if any) the Safety Assurance Engineers involved on the project / system / product (Internal or external resources).
  • If identified as Safety Leader for a Safety Issue, manage 8D steps as per process.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Mastering Cenelec Standards for Safety (or equivalent standards if needed: AREMA, IEEE, etc ) and safety methodology & concepts/principles.
  • 5 years successful experience in safety assurance, including 2 years in Railway business.
  • Previous experience within Signalling Systems Engineering, specifically with exposure to conventional signalling CBI technology and projects.

  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills.
