What are we looking for?

Kmart is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect who showcases the following,

  • Defines the solution architecture of Kmart Digital. Supports the Head of Engineering/ Delivery, Product Owners, and Engineering Managers to create and maintain solutions that are fit of purpose for the Digital portfolio of applications.
  • Creates maintains and owns the Architecture Map for Digital. This includes assistance and ownership of some technology selection, product selection, vendor management, and operational issues.
  • Work collaboratively with non-Digital teams to ensure dependencies are identified, designed and managed.
  • Work with Technical Leads and their squads to constantly review and implement the solutions required. In particular, this should focus on areas where the concerns cross multiple teams and squads.

About You

To meet the challenges of this role, you will ideally possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong hands-on software development skills. Although it is not expected that software development will form a major part of this role, it is expected that the Architect is well versed in modern software technologies and practices including AWS, Microservice Architecture, Node, React, Vue, Docker, Serverless, Python, JavaScript.
  • Experience working on a greenfield project (building from scratch) within the retail domain is highly regarded.
  • Demonstratable experience working in Digital space (Mobile/Online) with evolutionary architecture.
  • A MUST have experience in influencing and communicating complex ideas in a persuasive and engaging way to both management and delivery teams at different levels.
  • Ability to convey complex, technical ideas to the understanding of a non-technical audience.
  • Operational stability will form part of the overall Architect's responsibilities.
  • Demonstratable experience with evolutionary architecture.
  • Can take ownership of technical quality concerns that cross teams such as performance, security, and functional automation.
  • Uses their experience to assess team capabilities vs technology choice made
  • Can assist with the recruitment of technical team members.
  • Can create working prototypes to help evaluate technologies and products.
  • Ability to ensure alignment to the strategy.
  • Ability to take disconnected ideas and pull them together into an articulate, relevant, and precise point of view.
  • Strong personal organisation skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Actively promote a collaborative and consultative team environment across the architecture practice and beyond.
  • Excellent Strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and planning skills.
  • Ability to make decisions, build relationships, and serve as a champion to others in the enterprise.
  • Can bridge the gap between squads and Product Owners on difficult and technical topics.
