About The Team

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Network and Assets Branch are the Custodian of the regional road and rail network. They manage the assets to deliver safe, sustainable and integrated services to regional communities.

The Opportunity

The role will be responsible for sealing and resurfacing works as well as small works contracts. Assisting in maintenance and improvement programs as well as monitoring and reporting on project progress to ensure the delivery of projects as per the agreed milestones and cost.

The Project Engineer contributes towards the following day to day responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Works Supervisor, Team Leader and Works Assistant
  • Sealing and asphalt resurfacing works
  • Small Works Contracts
  • Analysing and interpreting condition, cost, and other relevant information to support the project maintenance works.
  • Undertaking safety and human resource activities and procedures
  • Managing professional service contractors and internal service providers to ensure outcomes are achieved.
  • Organising after care, line marking and signage activities
  • Effectively managing multiple and conflicting deadlines
  • Working with pavement planners to develop and deliver upcoming sealing programs


About You

You will have experience in road sealing using various materials, with an understanding of testing, spread rate and temperature properties. An understanding of implementation and incident reporting activities to ensure a safe working environment. Knowledgeable in project estimating, forecasting and cost analysis is greatly regarded. Experience in organising after care activities, as well as excellent communication, written and oral skills. Ideally, you will be highly driven with a can do attitude, the ability to adapt quickly to an ever changing environment and a willingness to continually learn and embrace new working methodologies. You’ll enjoy good stakeholder engagement and ready for challenging work across multiple project locations. It is essential you have a four-year civil/structural engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications and a current Australian Drivers Licence.

This is an entry level role and would ideally suit someone who has just finished their degree/graduate programs in Transport for NSW or other Tier 1, 2 or 3 organisations and looking for that next career move. The position is based in and around the Bega area of NSW although travel will be required to projects to meet business deliverables.

Salary And Benefits
  • Project Engineer - Engineer Level 1 / 2 - $94,184 - $124,862 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading
