Provide local engineering support to customer and it’s engineers, and Engineering Alliance partners. This assistance includes, but is not limited to, identifying and correcting hardware or software discrepancies, modification and programming of software for PLC, HMI and associated equipment, system configuration consultation, process and or sequential automation control, instrumentation, network and supervisory systems design engineering, 3rd party installation supervision, application engineering, maintenance, start-up and diagnostics. Use knowledge and previous industry experience to improve the customer’s production process using current automation technology.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • On-site analysis, consultation and specification preparation/assistance.
  • Installed Base Evaluations (IBE)
  • Hardware configuration - system and product application.
  • Software (Programming) Engineering.
  • Co-ordination between customer their Alliance partners, OEM, sales channels, local and corporate CSM technical support groups, product divisions, etc.
  • Technical support - start-up, integration and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to customer personnel on product applications to include alternatives, recommendations, explanations, surveys, etc., to meet the customers' requirements.
  • Make recommendations for product improvements, especially as they affect operation and reliability of RA brands of products. Aid Customer Driven solutions via Safety, Quality, Cost , Responsiveness and Productivity
  • Assist in training customers personnel in the application, operation, adjustment and proper maintenance of RA Brands of equipment.
  • Provide appropriate reporting of technical, admin and accounting info as required.
  • Maintain best possible relationships with the customer personnel and teams
  • Responds to customer needs and help strategize the way forward with strong bias towards RA brand products that have proven record of reliability.
  • Provide feedback concerning safety and liability issues as it related to the application of RA Brands of products.
  • Supports CSM teams to ensure equipment is maintained in good operating conditions and calibration.
  • Ensure thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately apply policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.
  • Other duties to be assigned by Immediate Supervisor


Education and Experience

1. Engineering qualifications or equivalent experience, such as Electrical Trade based within the Industrial Automation Industry with Advanced Diploma.

2. Relevant field service / technical support experience.

3. Technical skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • PLC Control Systems (Allen Bradley/Rockwell/others).
  • Networks (DataHighway/ControlNet/DeviceNet/EtherNet/others).
  • HMI/SCADA(FTView/Citect/other)/VSD/Drives Integration.
  • IT/Broad Windows Operating System knowledge/MS Office Suite etc/ others. (Keen Interest or demonstrated ability).

4. Basic project management skills.

5. Process Control Design Capability, System Integration Design, Work/Project Estimating, Implementation Supervision and Commissioning.
