Canterbury/Bankstown Council have just undertaken a major re-structure within the City Assets Department and we are now seeking a keen and motivated individual to join the Infrastructure Services team in the newly created role of Coordinator Development Engineering Services.

The Role;

To coordinate and provide advice to a team of Development Engineers providing the engineering input to the assessment of development application (DA) referrals and Work Permit Officers providing approvals of related Public Domain applications.

The starting Salary for this role is $115,482 (Grade K, Step 1)

The main duties for this role will include;

  • Maintain an efficient and effective Development Application (DA) engineering referrals and Work Permit (WP) approvals process using Council's corporate systems which include iShare and Pathway
  • Participate in pre-lodgement development application meetings with customers as Council’s Engineering representative and subject matter expert
  • Manage Council's Engineering Development Guidelines, standards and specifications for related works and recommend changes to the Manager as required
  • Liaise with applicants, consultants, builders, developers, private certifiers, ratepayers, Government agencies as required
  • Manage the engineering components of the Development Control Plan, policy and its application
  • Contribute to the management of development contribution plans such that there is sufficient public domain infrastructure to meet the capacity and community level of service generated by the development.
Essential Qualifications and Experience for this role;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
  • Class C Driver Licence
  • WH&S Construction White Card.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of budgets, construction plans, specifications, BoQs, cost estimates and contracts
  • Comprehensive experience in establishing engineering conditions of consent and successful management of development related activities impacting public infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in fulfilling a technical advocacy/expert witness role in the Land and Environment Court
  • Knowledge of use of surveying equipment
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in engineering aspects of land development including civil engineering design and construction associated with urban development in relation to roads, drainage and traffic Demonstrated experience in managing the erosion and sediment control and traffic management around construction sites
  • A strong knowledge of local government and planning legislation and procedures, and statutory instruments including NSW Land Registry services and procedures
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated high level understanding of flood management and water quality principles associated with land management and development
  • Highly developed negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.
