The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) ensures an integrated approach to the development of State and regional strategies to enable economic growth while delivering liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities.

The Energy Group is supporting a significant transformation of the Energy sector in Victoria. The Energy Demand and Efficiency Policy (EDEP) Branch, within the Energy Group, is focused on the role of energy demand in the energy transition, through improved energy efficiency, demand management, and the transition of buildings to net zero emissions by 2050. 

The newly created role of Director, Energy Smart Low Emissions Buildings is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to ensure that Victoria's built environment (existing and new buildings) keeps pace with the energy transition, and supports Victorians with improved amenity and affordable, low emissions energy services. The position will provide direction for the analysis and delivery of regulatory proposals and programs that improve energy efficiency standards for buildings; lead stakeholder consultations to deliver those benefits; and lead ongoing consideration of emerging opportunities and strategic policy and program development with respect to energy and the built environment.

To be considered for this position, you will have strong experience in leading policy development or regulatory reform in government. You will have an excellent understanding of, and experience in cross-portfolio, interjurisdictional or stakeholder negotiations and strong communication skills evident through the relationships you have across Government and key stakeholders. In addition, you will demonstrate strong people management and leadership capabilities. Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, economics or commerce, public policy and administration would be highly regarded.
