About the Role

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of engineering activities within Western Australia.

Key objectives of the Engineering Manager role include, but, are not limited to:

Determining and monitoring implemented engineering strategies and plans to ensure compliance with company and industry policies, procedures and standards in relation to the design and engineering activities conducted on projects during tender and upon delivery;
Comply with legal, relevant Codes and Standards, and the safety and environmental responsibilities specific to Company and project procedures;
Ensure that all design consultants are advised of their obligations under applicable legislation, codes of practice, the Project Execution Plan, the Design and Engineering Management Plan and all conditions set out in the contractual documents, and that those obligations are met;
Organise and coordinate engineering activities to conform to construction schedules so as to complete the works within the required timeframe whilst constantly monitoring the status of planning, cost, safety, environmental and quality activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with the client, project partners, subcontractors and consultants in order to elevate McConnell Dowell to a partner of choice;
Support the tendering and winning of new work through sound and compliant design and engineering management practices, innovative solutions, methods and techniques which provide a competitive advantage;
Support the delivery of the project through sound and compliant design and engineering management practices and solutions which drive positive safety, economic, program and risk outcomes;
Contribute to continuous improvement of design and engineering management practices to become more competitive in winning work and more efficient in delivery of future projects;
Preparing engineering documentation and presentation material for pre-qualifications, bids and projects;
Providing support to projects on construction (temporary and permanent works) details including interpreting plans, drawings and technical documentation as required;
Selection, coordination and direction of external engineering consultants for bids and projects.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will need the following:
Tertiary Engineering qualification;
A Minimum of 10 years engineering experience in the construction industry with a demonstrated success in managing design service providers to time and cost targets, engineering standards and contract requirements;
Proven expertise and experience in tender and project delivery in a similar role in an Alliance environment;
Strong leadership and communication abilities;
Competent in negotiation;
Have valid Australian working rights.
