Purpose of this position:
Our State Government Client seeks the provision of a Digital Engineering Manager to oversee the implementation of Digital Engineering practices to better deliver projects.

With the increased procurement of capital works throughout New South Wales, this has led to the client's need to standardise and increase the implementation of BIM on projects.
Currently, these projects are being applied and these digital principles require further development and guidance.

With the standardisation of design and DfMA approach this presents the client with a great opportunity to mandate the use of BIM across all projects with the adoption of the standardised grid and baseline model.
The client currently has the following key documents that have been developed.

  • BIM Project Information Requirements (PIRs) - articulates the expectations and processes required to achieve the SINSW BIM deliverables.

  • Critically review and revise where required the current client's BIM suite of documents to reflect the latest delivery workflows and approaches with a strong consideration for the new standardised design and DfMA approach.
  • Digital Baseline design - Following the completion of the standardised design process, the technical team will ensure all components, neighbourhoods, general arrangement plans, masterplans, will be generated in a BIM platform that is interoperable (IFC most likely). The output will be 3D parametric models created with meta data (specifications), collected into a single location on our chosen BIM platform. The DEM should provide input into this process.
  • DfMA Digital Kit of Parts - provide input and direction to the DfMA design and consultant team who are producing the Kit of Parts. A vision for the client is to have a digital library of these components which will be shared openly with the market and partners to improve standardisation and efficiency of delivery.
  • Be responsible for driving project teams to collate BIM data that is require under existing construction contracts. A consistent approach to how this data is stored and visualised will need to be produced (if not already in existence).
  • Explore and advise on capability for 4D modelling at Concept design phase to inform constructability and phasing.
  • Explore and advise on 5D modelling at Concept design to inform cost plan and cash flow forecasting.
  • Explore and advise on automated design utilising our masterplan guidelines, standard designs and kit of parts.
