JOB DESCRIPTION

About the position:

Reporting to the Project Manager, working as a part of a team of 6, your role as the Project Engineer is to be responsible for developing and assuring all technical aspects of rolling stock projects. You will effectively manage and guide supplier system development, design, installation and test culminating in system rollout across Metro Trains' existing fleets.

This is a 24 month max term contract opportunity.


Some of the duties and responsibilities include:

* Provide technical guidance and instruction to suppliers during design, installation and test activities
* Provide Engineering due diligence, lead technical investigations and trials and develop solutions to technical issues
* Sustain key stakeholder communication throughout the duration of each project
* Carry out Engineering Assurance/Design Scrutiny activities including; Design review, Engineering Change Process, Australian/International/Internal standards compliance, Design verification and validation against specifications and witnessing of type and routine tests including installation acceptance
* Prepare and present a range of reports to internal and external stakeholders and industry forums
* Continually monitor progress and identify potential risks before they become issues.

About you:

To be a successful applicant for this position, you must have prior experience in a similar project engineering role. A background in Systems, Electronic, and Electrical Engineering or as a Project Engineer is highly desirable. A sound understanding of Rolling Stock Standard and/or experience within a Rolling Stock/ Rail is preferred. Knowledge of train build and experience in design modification and verification would be an advantage.

You will have well-developed analytical and problem solving skills and take pride in your ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the business and supplier organisations, both written and verbal.
