About the role

We are seeking Construction lawyers to join our reputable Projects, Infrastructure & Construction Law team practice on a permanent basis. We have opportunities to work in “back end” construction disputes, “front end” drafting or both.

Our Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team is highly regarded for its expertise across the WA construction (and related) sectors and is one of the largest in Western Australia. This exceptional opportunity involves working directly with Partners, Basil Georgiou, Isla McRobbie, Anthony Bereyne, Tom Jacobs and Matthew Lang, who are leading practitioners in their field.

We act for a number of major organisations in the industry, and a range of clients including principals, contractors, consultants and government bodies. Our team is collaborative and friendly and enjoys strong links with key bodies such as the Master Builders Association, SOCLA and Consult Australia.

About you

With at least 4 years PQE, you will have built up solid experience working on a range of commercial disputes and/or “front end” projects, preferably in the building, construction and engineering sectors Ideally you will also have:

  • excellent legal knowledge and technical ability, with proven experience;
  • solid procedural knowledge (of the rules relating to litigation; domestic arbitration and adjudication);
  • knowledge of the legal issues concerning construction and engineering projects in Western Australia;
  • solid contract drafting experience (in the various common forms of contracts within the construction sector);
  • sound judgment and commercial acumen;
  • a desire to act in a client-facing role; and
  • understanding and knowledge in the use of various IT systems.

Those interested should also exhibit:

  • a willingness to mentor junior practitioners;
  • experience of (or a strong desire and commitment to learn) construction law and practice, with motivation to contribute to the continued growth and success of the team;
  • commitment to delivering exceptional standards in your work; and
  • proactivity and enthusiasm to see tasks through to completion.
