We currently have a 12 month fixed term opportunity for a Town Planner within the Services division located at Newstead.

The role

The Town Planner is responsible for responding to development application referrals to ensure that Energy Queensland's interests are protected in accordance with prescribed timeframes.

The position will also provide development advice to Commercial and Network activities to obtain approvals for depots, substations and powerlines to support Energex and Ergon Energy distribution areas. You will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders of State and Local governments to ensure EQL’s existing and future activities are protected and enhanced by reviewing town planning legislation, schemes and area plans.

The candidate

Your demonstrated ability to reach good Town Planning conclusions based on all available information and sound assumptions along with ability to apply mitigation strategies to effectively drive strategic, policy and operational outcomes with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver ideas and concepts will critical to your success in this role, as will your:

  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA);
  • Membership of PIA or the ability to acquire is desired;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Planning Act 2016;
  • Experience in carrying out Referral Agency duties in compliance with the Planning Act 2016.

This position has been evaluated as Professional & Managerial Grade One (PM1). Remuneration will range from $93,299 per annum (10 day fortnight). The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

This position is currently open to suitably qualified internal Energy Queensland employees and the external market.
