JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re inventing the future, right here, right now, at Thales. We design the critical security solutions of tomorrow by combining the curiosity to explore, the intelligence to question and the vision to create. Together we solve complicated problems by combining our experience in the market with our leading research and development capabilities.

About Your Role

The challenge? Developing, validating and delivering a new Air Traffic Management system to be deployed in Australian skies. The first of its kind anywhere in the world, the OneSKY solution will be a combined civil and military Air Traffic Management solution. This large software system (4 million lines of code) includes all the software development activities and software integration, validation and qualification activities. The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for managing the successful delivery of Integration, Verification and Validation (IVV) projects for the OneSKY program.

  • Clearly define and agree the baseline of the IVV Projects including scope, deliverables, Work Breakdown Structure, Organisation Breakdown Structure, estimates, schedule, workload and technical KPIs

  • Establish and maintain a strategy of progressive and incremental Integration and Test, followed by informal and formal verification & validation of Mission System and Support System elements throughout the design, development, integration and delivery process

  • Communicate, analyse, plan and report as necessary to align team capability and project priorities and Customers’ expectations.

  • Anticipate and lead the response to key risks, issues and opportunities relating to the IVV Projects, proposing effective solutions, executing mitigation actions and reporting on outcomes, costs and residual risks

  • Ensure IVV Projects are delivered to a defined schedule, cost and quality outcomes

  • Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for demonstrating that the System fulfils contractual requirements and specifications as set out by the customer and gaining their acceptance.

How About You?

  • A tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline or related field, with formal IPMA, PMBOK or Prince 2 qualifications preferred

  • A strong engineering background, including integration, verification, validation and acceptance of complex systems. Any exposure to managing commissioning of real-time or safety critical systems would be highly desirable.

  • Good project management skills including scheduling, risk management, stakeholder management, estimating, progress reporting and financial / budgetary control

  • Solid experience of managing the delivery of large-scale systems through the integration, verification, validation and formal acceptance phases to successful completion. Exposure to ASDEFCON standards would be highly advantageous.

  • Finely honed customer and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and drive outcomes across a complex, international matrix environment.
