The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. This opportunity is within Infrastructure and Place’s Technical Services’ Pavement and Geotechnical Engineering team supporting projects and programs across within the Eastern Harbour City and Corridor team.

The opportunity

The Pavement and Geotechnical Engineering have a permanent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join the team based in Parramatta.

  • Contribute to providing geotechnical consultancy services to a range of internal clients in order to support the development and improvement of road infrastructure and mitigate organisational risk.
  • Provide expert advice and technical expertise in supporting project staff through various stages of infrastructure projects – including specification development, contract management and growing internal capability.
  • Research worldwide developments in geotechnical science and identify potential implementations of new technologies and systems in order to further business reputation and capability within TfNSW.

About You

The Pavement and Geotechnical Engineering are looking for a knowledgeable geotechnical engineering professional with a collaborative mindset and a drive for innovation.

You will be comfortable both seeking assistance and providing advice in a dynamic environment, while your extensive technical knowledge and ability to build a rapport will place you in a position to become a trusted advisor. Willing to share knowledge and foster growth, your passion for what you do will drive you to achieve.

A familiarity operating in a government environment and design experiences in infrastructures projects would make you ideally suited to the role, as would experience in contract management or procurement as well as contributing to all stages of major infrastructure projects

Essential requirements:
  • A four year engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications acceptable for professional recognition within Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of standards and specifications for the design, construction and documentation of geotechnical structures for road/rail infrastructure projects.
  • It is a prerequisite that applicants possess a current motor vehicle driver license.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours or to travel on occasion.

Please note: the successful candidate will need to undertake background checks and criminal record checks.

Salary And Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade Engineer Level 1-2 ($94, 184- $124, 862) per annum plus superannuation.
