About The Role

The Workplace Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring WHS requirements and strategies are implemented at all Homes and Services across Regis and monitor the effectiveness of these strategies to ensure an ongoing focus on safety, resulting in a reduction in injury frequency and severity.

Supporting and mentoring the state based WHS Advisors in monitoring local implementation of the Regis WHS Management System and program at State Homes and Regis sites. The WHS Manager will provide training (WHS / IM / Emergency Response etc.) to Regis management teams and employees as required.

The WHS Manager Will Also Be Responsible For

As the subject matter expert the WHS Manager will improve employee WHS knowledge and understanding through regular presence at Homes and the Home WHS Committees.

  • Coordinating State WHS Audit functions with an aim of achieving continuous improvement
  • Coordinating State WHS reporting in collaboration with the WHS Advisors
  • Assist the National WHS Manager to develop and roll out annual initiatives, objectives and targets, to achieve significant incident rate and outcome improvement, enhance safety culture and improved WHS awareness and focus.
Success will be built upon strong relationships with all key stakeholders, and the ability to translate company and legislative requirements and implement them as practical initiatives and tasks.

High level areas of responsibility
  • Ensure the effective implementation of WHS strategies nationally
  • Provide effective WHS technical expertise, coaching and support nationally
  • Support stakeholders with injury prevention and injury management actions in collaboration with the Injury & Rehabilitation Manager
  • As required, support and or lead the effective roll out of training programmes (eg. bullying / harassment training, emergency response / warden training)
  • Review and analyse site based hazard identification and assessment activities and ensure these are identifying and resolving risk
  • Effectively contribute to the National WHS system & strategy development process
  • Develop and lead a high functioning, highly effective team of WHS Advisors
Skills

& Experience
  • Minimum of a Graduate or Post Graduate level qualification in WHS or related field
  • Minimum of three years working in a similar role - ideally Health or Aged Care
  • Experience and sound understanding of Claim and RTW processes nationally
  • Demonstrated work history managing projects across multiple states/regions
  • Commercial outlook
  • Able to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders (frontline to Executives)
  • Ability to convert complex language and concepts into everyday language to suit varied audiences
  • Good relationship skills with stakeholders; able to secure their time and attention
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning and implementation.
  • Able to achieve outcomes through others
