JOB DESCRIPTION

Volvo Group Trucks Operations is currently seeking a Production Engineering Technician to join the team at their manufacturing facility in Wacol. As Production Engineering Technician you will provide daily support to the production assembly lines in order to improve quality and assembly costs while meeting Area KPI targets.

This position is being offered on a two (2) year contract.

About The Role

  • Provide support to the Production Assembly lines and Cross Functional Team
  • Update and maintain assembly instructions for Production in regards to DCN and other changes in assembly that may affect the assembly instructions
  • Improve quality and assembly costs in area of responsibility
  • Implement design changes as required
  • Support cross functional teams in continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis activities
  • Support process change implementation using the Project Steering Model
  • Support the New model Introductions
  • Conduct time studies in doing so identifying and removing process bottlenecks
  • Create shop floor layouts ensuring Lean Manufacturing Principles are not compromised
  • Assist the Production Engineering Manager with relevant activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Volvo Group Australia’s Environmental Policy, Workplace Health & Safety requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment.
About you:
  • At least 2 years’ experience within a Production / Production Engineering environment
  • Relevant degree or engineering qualification would be well regarded
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to maintain a customer focus at all times
  • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Sound knowledge of Volvo and Mack products an advantage
  • Sound computer skills including Microsoft Office packages, Kola, AS400.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Experience in using Root Cause Analysis tools to identify root causes and prevent re-occurrence
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cross functional team environment.
