Large Fed Gov client in Melbourne need 2 Senior Technical Engineers to help develop their Cloud Infrastructure

Your new company
A very large and established Federal Government client who are based in Melbourne require 2 Senior Technical Engineers. The roles will involve developing a cross cloud control plane that will have the capability to develop and run workloads across both private and public cloud infrastructure.

Your new role
Your duties would include:

  • Industrialise the existing private cloud platform
  • Implement the new public cloud tenancies consistent with the private cloud design
  • Implement a hybrid cloud control plane, define system architectures, installation, configuration, testing and deployment of the platform
  • Promote the adoption of automation techniques and DevOps processes
  • Contribute to continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
  • Implement automation and integration across the multi-cloud infrastructure
  • Designing, Implementing and Supporting Linux/Unix and Windows Enterprise Environments and Infrastructures
  • Work with and liaise with the business and devops teams to develop suitable solutions across a varied array of technologies
  • Resolve incidents and/or action Service Requests, as required
  • Liaise with architects, developers, infrastructure engineers and other key stakeholders to ensure solutions utilising the cloud control plane are designed, costed and documented to a level of detail that ensures a successful implementation and ongoing support
  • Complete detailed design and detailed documentation of the cloud control plane including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, testing and deployments

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will need to be an Australian Citizen. Current Baseline Security Clearance would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Several years’ experience in cloud technologies and experience with public/private cloud technology stacks for large-scale critical infrastructure environments.
  • Detailed knowledge cloud native application design principles (e.g. containers, microservices, Infrastructure as Code, Policy as Code)
  • Ideally, knowledge of some of the following tools/concepts:- DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, Terraform, Ansible, Vault, Sentinel, Consul, Service Mesh (Istio, Consul Connect), Kubernetes (OpenShift 4.x), Private Cloud (OpenStack), Network/SDN, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack/ELK
  • Experience with large-scale design and implementation of a hybrid cloud solution consisting of integrated private cloud and multiple public cloud environments.
  • Ideally, experience in agile delivery processes especially GitOps/DevSecOps (preferably GitLab or GitHub)
  • Strong understanding on Cyber security concepts and implications in cloud environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of Infrastructure and Cloud concepts, architecture and modernisation techniques

What you'll get in return
Initial 12 months with the option of 24 months of extensions. The opportunity to secure an attractive day rate whilst working for a large and well known Federal Government client in Melbourne.
