A rewarding opportunity has become available for a Senior Building Surveyor to join our Development unit. This opportunity will see you achieving quality outcomes alongside a team of focused Development Assessment & Certification professionals.

In This Role You Will

  • Assess Complying Development Certificate Applications, Construction Certificate Applications, Occupation Certificate Applications, Building Information Certificate Applications and Development Applications
  • Prepare assessment reports and reports to Council on development proposals, building certification, compliance and other related matters.
  • Attend to members of the public at the customer service counter and via telephone enquiries.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports and memorandums in relation to development proposals, building certification, compliance and other related matters.
  • Prepare statements of evidence and attend the Land & Environment Court as an expert witness as required.
  • Coordinate comments from other areas, both internal and external to Council, relating to development, building certification, compliance and other related matters.
  • Undertake critical stage inspection and fulfil the role of Principal Certifier for Council.
  • Undertake site inspections.

  • You Will Have
    • Hold relevant class of registration under Building & Development Certifiers Regulation 2020. Either:
  • building surveyor—unrestricted, or
  • building surveyor—restricted (all classes of building).
    • Tertiary qualifications in building surveying, town planning (or equivalent)
    • Class C drivers licence
    • High level of technical knowledge related to relative planning legislation, National Construction Code and other statutory controls.
    • Sound working knowledge of personal computers.
    • Demonstrated high work standards.
    • Technical knowledge and experience in building surveying, particularly building certification and building compliance matters.
    • Extensive knowledge of development and building certification and building compliance matters
    • Comprehensive understanding of all relevant legislation including Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, Local Government Act, State Environmental Planning Policies, National Construction Code.
    The salary range for this opportunity commences at $90,132 (Grade H, Step1) + 9.5% super
