What you'll be doing

The Mental Health Quality and Safety Manager provides leadership and management of patient safety, clinical quality processes and corporate risk mitigation for the District Mental Health Services. This includes processes relating to accreditation, clinical governance and litigation. The Mental Health Quality and Safety Manager provides high level support and advice to the Mental Health Executive and other senior managers in relation to quality and risk management functions.

Selection Criteria:

Relevant tertiary qualification in a mental health related discipline and/ or relevant experience related to the position.

Demonstrated understanding of health systems in the context of patient safety and clinical quality.

Relevant experience in applying safety and quality principles and processes in a clinical environment, including clinical risk management, quality management, clinical governance risk management and accreditation processes.

Experience in the analysis of incident data (quantitative and qualitative analysis) in a clinical setting.

Sound written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare high quality reports and briefings, complaints handling, and responding to Ministerial inquiries

Highly developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and an ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to work with consumers and carers to promote active involvement in service planning

Ability to both work independently and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Capacity to undertake a range of tasks and meet deadlines.
