Reporting day to day to the Newcastle Structural lead and Department Civil/Structural/Architectural Manager, we are seeking an Experienced to Senior Structural Engineer to take on full responsibility and provide leadership in managing and delivering Structural based projects. Working both on site (Port or Industrial or Mine sites) and in the Newcastle office, you will have the opportunity to engage in multidiscipline project teams by providing structural design, engineering, construction and commissioning activities for other projects and developments.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver structural engineering services that meet Worley’s, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Engage directly with our clients to ensure a successful delivery of our projects and to continue to build our relationships.
  • Supporting Brownfield projects from conception to commissioning.
  • Provide technical support within the discipline team, liaise with the project team and consult with relevant resources as required
  • Perform structural engineering services such as:
  • assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
  • identify and report changes to project scope.
  • Undertake Brownfield structural site inspections (Drone experience will be highly regarded)
  • Undertake a mixture of client site based inspection, asset management and design activities
  • assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, calculations, scopes of work and reports within a brownfield environment.
  • contribute to appropriate studies, analyse and recommend actions.
  • participate in project kick-off meetings, site inspections, design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs and constructability reviews.
  • assist during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor of Structural Engineering (recognised by IEAust)
  • Previous experience in metals, minerals & chemicals or hydrocarbons brownfield engineering design (including familiarity with relevant codes and standards).
  • Previous experience with Infrastructure projects including projects for Government Authorities
  • A good working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of structural engineering.
  • Competent use of structural engineering specific software (eg. SpaceGass, Strand7 etc.) and relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Prior experience in both steelwork and concrete design.
