The Project Manager is responsible for the successful management and delivery of the QBCC’s Insights Driven Regulator strategy and roadmap within the QBCC. The Project Manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the project, ensuring alignment and consistency with organisational strategy, frameworks and methodologies.

Key outcomes/ Accountabilities

  • The aim of this role is to:
  • In consultation with relevant stakeholders, and in accordance with QBCC Project Management methodologies, develop, implement, update, monitor, manage and communicate:
  • Project schedules, Project execution plans (project management plans)
  • Project risk and issues
  • Project reports and communications
  • Project change management
  • Project financial management and budgets
  • Perform designated project activities and execute deliverables as per the project schedule.
  • Manage, direct and coordinate the project team to ensure the best use of available resources.
  • Prioritise, allocate and coordinate project activities and identified action areas, and escalate problems and issues to the Director, Executive Director or relevant Project Steering Committee.
  • Identify areas of improvement and prepare documentation to outline recommendations for improvement to the Director, Executive Director or Project Steering Committee. Identify gaps, issues, weaknesses, and potential problem areas which may adversely impact project scope, deliverables, timeframes, risk, resourcing, or costs.
  • Establish and maintain excellent interpersonal working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that contractual agreements with solution providers and vendors are managed.
  • Ensure that IT, infrastructure, process and organisation elements of a project are addressed and integrated.
  • Manage the expenditure of project budgets and prepare associated financial summary reports for members of the steering committee, executive and Board.
  • Prepare project status reports and other reports required through QBCC project management methodologies. Routinely monitor and report on progress of the project to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal customers to determine their strategic, business and functional requirements, and investigate (and recommend) solutions to meet requirements.
  • Provide an exceptional level of service to stakeholders. Maintain close and cooperative contact with the Director, Executive Director, Project Sponsor, and team. Keep all stakeholders aware of progress, upcoming deliverables, and ensure stakeholder expectations are managed.
  • Show judgement, intelligence and common-sense. Undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence.
  • Take responsibility for managing work activities to achieve results. See activities through to completion. Monitor progress and adjust plans as required.
  • Commit to action – Deliver on promises and take personal responsibility for meeting objectives, progressing work and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Provide updates to the Director and Executive Director on work in progress, work completed, and work planned, key changes and major issues.
  • Actively participate in ad-hoc activities and projects as determined by the Director.
Candidate Attributes
  • Demonstrated project management experience and proven ability to successfully drive, coordinate and implement large, complex projects using a collaborative, transparent, contemporary approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, interpersonal, and communications skills (both written and verbal). Ability to communicate and elicit cooperation at all levels, including technical staff, management, and external parties. Excellent negotiation, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Possess well developed time management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and a diverse range of activities, with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to drive meetings and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
