What’s the role?

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to work within our IT team to maintain, support and continually improve IT infrastructure systems that support the continued growth of News Corp Australia. The role will have you work with users directly, and is a combination of project work and BAU. This is an exciting opportunity that can offer real career development opportunities. 

  • Implement, document and maintain technology solutions in response to business needs 
  • Work with our global infrastructure and architecture teams on open issues, potential problems, priorities and projects 
  • Ensure appropriate system and user security for both equipment and confidentiality of data
  • Provide Microsoft, AWS, VMware, GCP, Azure and on-prem data centre support across various technologies and services.
  • Participate in the provision of 24 x 7 x 365 server support roster (on call)
  • Mentoring of Wintel Systems engineers

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic with a customer driven approach. The ideal candidate will have prior demonstrated extensive client facing experience. As a key role within the business, you must have excellent written and verbal communication with outstanding documentation skills as you will be liaising with business stakeholders of all levels.

  • 5 years experience in a similar role 
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally while identifying problems and developing creative solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical, self-motivated. Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
  • Ability to plan and manage change in the production environment in order to minimise disruption whilst keeping both business and IT management informed.
  • Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write tools to automate them.
