MACA is a publicly listed, integrated contracting services group specialising in mining, civil construction, infrastructure and mineral processing. Our operations span across Australia.

We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer at the Karara Iron Ore Project in Western Australia. Karara is about 350 kilometres north of Perth and 200 kilometres east of Geraldton, and is the Mid West's largest mining project. The operation is a conventional open pit with a 30Mtpa mining rate to produce 8Mtpa of magnetite concentrate. The Karara pit feeds the processing plant, which is run by our client, Karara Mining Ltd. The magnetite concentrate is transported by rail to Geraldton for shipment.

Reporting to the Project Manager the Mining Engineer will assist with mine scheduling and planning to meet both client requirement and MACA production rates. You will also provide ongoing development of the mine plans, methods, design, materials handling and cost analysis as appropriate. To be successful in this role you will:

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Hold a Bachelor Engineering (Mining)
  • Have exposure to open pit mining design within an Iron Ore, Gold or Lithium background highly regarded
  • Have prior knowledge of providing weekly, monthly reporting and progress claims
  • Strong Drill & Blast design experience
  • Have demonstrated contractor mining experience with a solid skill set in client interface and exceeding performance-based mining KPIs
  • Have sound knowledge of the Mines & Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
  • Hold a Current WA drivers' licence
  • Demonstrate sound written and oral skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the MACA values and work practices.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices
