In your new role as a Defect Management and Predictive Engineer within Qantas Engineering Operations Centre you will be supporting the Defect Management and Predictive team to determine the optimum resolution for critical and predictive defects with an emphasis on the use of data analytics. This will involve investigating aircraft related data and maintenance information using data analytics technology to develop new predictive solutions and support the Maintenance Operations Centre teams in day-to-day aircraft defect management.

This is a technical role where you will liaise with key stakeholders, contribute to evaluate third parties’ digital solutions, and develop reporting in order to influence key fleet performance indicators by developing predictive and increasing defect management efficiency. Your knowledge of software coding languages, in particular python, will be critical to your success as you use aircraft-related data to identify predictive defects or narrow root causes of repeat and critical defects.

You’ll have:

Professional qualification in Engineering, preferably Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical, Mechatronic or equivalent

Strong demonstrated skills in problem solving and analytical thinking, both individually and as part of a team

Ability to work as part of a team to produce safe, compliant and desirable outcome, strong team focused approach

Software coding, data analytics or data science skills are highly desirable, knowledge of python is preferable

Knowledge of data alerting tool or data analytics platform, such as Qlick, PowerBI, Skywise,Palantir or GE platform is desirable

Ability to use software tools to analyse and process large amounts of information

Familiarity with aircraft systems is highly desirable, in particular related to Airbus aircraft

Familiarity with predictive maintenance or trend analysis is desirable

Ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing

Excellent communication and relationship skills

Demonstrated commitment to proactively finding solutions to problems

Ability to prioritise and manage multiple conflicting deadlines, still with attention to detail.
