Based in our Perth office with the option of flexible working arrangements, a unique opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer within the Mobile Auxiliary Engineering team to be part of an inclusive and cohesive team, supporting the engineering function through the development, evaluation and auditing of the engineering blueprints to ensure compliance with legislative standards and business requirements as well as providing technical support to operations on Mobile Classified Plant and Dewatering Equipment.

Reporting to the Superintendent GTS, you will also have accountability across the following:

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Provide mechanical guidance and support to the Engineering, Project Managers and Maintenance line areas within Port, Rail, NPI and Mines
  • Review and approve WAIO Engineering Standards, Specifications and Procedures applicable to Mobile Classified Plant and Dewatering Equipment
  • Develop and coordinate the blueprint compliance audits and inspection plans
  • Direct supervision of contracted auditors, inspectors and consultants.
  • Participate in routine team and stakeholder engagement meetings
  • Lead/Participate in investigations and technical reporting
  • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation.
  • Manage and control the engineering changes associated with the Auxiliary Equipment using the Management of Change process
  • Assess and investigate cost saving opportunities.
  • Control and keep track of all expenditure under Engineers control.
About You

The successful candidate will be a passionate team player who enjoys knowledge sharing and possesses sound interpersonal and influencing skills to work with stakeholders at all levels.

You will uncompromising on safety and have acquired relevant knowledge and experience within a complex organisation preferably within Mining or heavy industry supported by a tertiary Mechanical Engineering qualification. Experience in a large-scale open pit mining operation or industrial materials handling operations is also considered beneficial.

You will ideally have the following also:
  • Conversant in BHP software platforms including but not limited to SAP, Fiori, SPO, MOC system, etc
  • Understanding and management of the Classified Plant
  • Understanding and selection of the in-pit dewatering pumping system
  • Presents data in a format that enables a variety of stakeholders to easily grasp difficult concepts and identify new patterns
  • Asks questions and evaluates information from a wide range of sources to understand alternative viewpoints
  • Leverages complementary capabilities within own team/network to deliver a better outcome
  • Implements solutions that target and solve the underlying cause of problems.
