Altum Green Energy Group has been established to develop a range of renewable energy generation and storage solutions, including our unique and patented turbine to generate electricity from the energy in free-flowing water.

The Altum Group’s Australian subsidiary is based in Marrickville, Sydney and is recruiting a “hands-on” Mechanical Engineer – Design & Fabrication to lead the creation of prototypes and the low volume manufacturing of early commercial product.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, CAD drawings and prototyping of components for our free-stream hydro turbines and once proven you will oversee outsourced production of components. You will also be responsible for trouble-shooting any issues that arise with turbines in the field and if modifications or improvements are required, or if customers require additional features, to design, fabricate test and document these innovative features. You will also lead the team in sourcing and accrediting outsource manufacturers plus installers and maintainers of our turbine range.

Requirements:

Degree qualified in Engineering (Mechanical)

Experience with 2D and 3D CAD, including preparation of manufacturing drawings

Qualifications and experience as a machinist including large (up to 1m diameter) manual lathe operation, CNC milling, composites fabrication including fabrication of moulds.

Ability to manage and train a graduate engineer and contract labour from time to time

Previous experience working in a marine environment, including application of coatings.

Experience in quality control over external fabricators and suppliers.

MIG and TIG welding experience and familiarity with pressure/vacuum sealing and testing.

Experience with permanent magnet generator disassembly and servicing.

Forklift License and current NSW drivers licence required.

Ability to diagnose and fault find and prioritise to meet deadlines.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to work unsupervised and successfully in a workshop environment.

A respectful person towards staff members and customers.

A strong work ethic and pride in workmanship.

This is a full-time position.

Salary range is $80,000 to $120,000
