Senior Statutory Referral Engineer/Officer

  • Annual Salary Range: $101,120 - $122,348 + Super (as per VPS Enterprise Agreement 2020)
  • Tenure: Fixed Term until [5th Jan 2024]
  • Employment Type: Full Time (flexible work arrangements may be available)
  • Usual Work Location: Burwood East (flexibility may be available)

About the Opportunity

The Senior Statutory Referral Engineer/Officer role is to utilise competence in road access planning to provide written responses to planning permit applications for land use developments affecting the operation of the road network of various complexities.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification relevant to Statutory Planning and/or Traffic Engineering, and/or extensive relevant experience.
  • Exercise independent professional judgement in the application of statutory planning processes and DoT policies to respond to planning referrals.
  • The ability to use sound interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to progress work.
  • Exercise independent judgement to interpret planning schemes and provide sound written and verbal advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates detailed understanding of relevant legislation and the planning system and the ability to independently prepare submissions and represent DoT at VCAT and panel hearings.
  • Ability to supervise, guide and monitor others to deliver outcomes that meet relevant performance indicators and targets.
  • Contribute to the development of a monitoring and reporting framework
