Support Engineer - Payments

As a Support Engineer within the Group Payments technology area, you will be responsible for the operational support, maintenance and optimisation of some of the bank's most critical payments services. This will involve analytical thinking to overcome complex problems, creating automation/monitoring use cases to reduce toil and maximise service availability and engaging with business and technical stakeholders to arrive at optimal solutions.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Actively engaging in the whole lifecycle (inception, design, development, testing, deployment, operation, monitoring and refinement) of systems and services
  • Monitoring, measuring and maintaining the availability and health of our infrastructure and platform
  • Managing incidents/problems, applying fixes and resolving systematic issues; triaging issues with stakeholders and identifying and implementing solutions to restore productivity
  • Advocating for changes that improve the overall platform health and performance
  • Always looking for opportunities to automate and build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring the following specialised skills:
  • Subject matter expert in the field of Payments applications and technologies
  • High level of expertise in Windows, UNIX and Java technologies - a development, and or, application DBA background/experience is desirable
  • 3 years of experience in payments technology landscape
