We are seeking a DevOps Software Engineer with strong technical skills to join the banking and financial services Site Reliability Engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for development of services and integrations to build intelligent and innovative services to help drive the digital and automation transformation across Macquarie. Focused initially on building operational management functions, you will also ideally have expert knowledge of the latest concepts and industry trends in monitoring of cloud-based application services to help lead a strategy towards Open Telemetry and leveraging of Open Source software.

You will also apply your sound engineering knowledge to help create an enterprise-scale automation and chat bot framework, with high quality UIs to deliver visibility and control, directly to internal and external users

You are passionate about technology and will be able to both draw upon your previous technical experiences and be hungry to acquire new skills to drive efficiencies and automation across all facets of Digital automation and operational management. In addition, you possess strong technical, collaborative and communication skills as the role requires constant interaction with technical and product teams across all BFS agile trains.

We anticipate to excel in this role you will bring:

  • 4+ years solid Java (version 8 and beyond) knowledge and demonstrated delivery experience
  • knowledge of Spring family of technologies like Spring Boot or similar Java EE
  • experience in designing and delivering cloud-based Software
  • expert understanding of application infrastructure and able to provide integration solutions for application interaction
  • able to perform the key integration software engineer role for the team.
  • testing, debugging, diagnosing and fault correction in new and current applications and features
  • expert in a range of leading monitoring tools (APM, Log Analytics and Networks), and familiar with the concepts and goals of Open Telemetry monitoring
  • experience in Google SRE concepts for creating SLOs/SLIs, service error budgets for DevOps governance across the Group
  • identifying monitoring gaps and weaknesses and providing solutions to guide uplift across the Group
  • designs, Implement, and provide support for installation of monitoring tools within the application and platform ecosystem across the Group.
  • strong Database and query scripting and Unix scripting experience is also desirable
  • design, build and support the SRE custom built application services in a multi cloud (AWS and GCP) environment.
