An exciting opportunity to join the Commodities and Global Markets team in supporting stakeholders across the Macquarie Group. In this role, you will be a talented Support Engineer with at least 3 years solid experience and join our Futures DevOps team to support the local business.

This is an opportunity for the right candidate to provide day-to-day production and test environment support to the Futures businesses including inhouse and vendor applications. You will use your technology skills to improve the environment including automation and projects and take ownership of operational issues and perform both short-term resolutions, and develop preventive measures for the longer term.

You will be a valued member of our team if you are a self-motivated and proactive team player and have excellent communication skills, enabling you to engage with all levels of stakeholders. Ideally, in this role you will have:

  • minimum 3 years’ experience providing application support, preferably on financial markets. A strong understanding of Futures and Options markets is desirable
  • experienced with Unix / Linux systems
  • support of applications running under Java/J2EE
  • SQL and understanding of databases
  • supporting applications running in a cloud environment
  • understanding of basic networking and different file transfer methods (SFTP, MQ, API)
  • understanding of Incident, Problem and Change Management processes, experience in ITIL Service Operations or similar IT Operations framework
  • experience in the use of BMC Remedy, Jira Service Desk or similar ticket handling system.

In this role you will:

  • proactively monitor the system health and respond to alerts to provide high availability and performance of the application set including automation of health checks
  • be responsible for the stability and maintenance of the Futures production environment
  • identify and exploit opportunities to improve the production environment throughout our application stack
  • Work closely with global team members in a follow-the-sun model.
