JOB DESCRIPTION

Ballarat Gold Mine is owned and operated by Golden Point Group Pty Ltd (GPG) and is a successful gold explorer and producer with four significant goldfields in Central Victoria

Our primary focus is the high-grade underground gold mine in Ballarat, which started producing gold in September 2011.
About the role:

Reporting to the Mining Manager, your key responsibility will be to support the mining team to develop and produce from the designated ore blocks at the Ballarat Gold Project site.

As part of a small technical team you will be responsible for all aspects of mine production and planning.

This is a hands on position with an emphasis on good communication to a wide range of disciplines with engineering input into mine design and daily activities.

  • This opportunity is well suited to someone with a strong understanding of underground mining operations, fleet management system, and data analytics. You will have strong people leadership capability and be looking to be part of a team actively shaping processes and contributing to exceeding safety and production targets.
  • Preparing operation and project cost estimates and production schedules, and reporting progress, production and costs compared to the budget
  • Determining the most methods for extraction process whilst taking account of factors including depth of overburden, attitude and physical characteristics of deposits and surrounding strata.
  • Prepare plans for tunnels and chambers, location and construction of mine shafts, layout of mine development and the application of appropriate mining techniques, sometimes using computer modelling.
  • Generating the daily/weekly/monthly reports for underground mining performance.

To be considered for this role you will meet the following criteria:

  • Experience using SCADA control systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Ability to make timely decisions and work under pressure
  • Data analytic skills with Power BI knowledge
  • High level attention to detail
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite and mining software such as Vulcan, Deswick, Leapfrog and EPS.
  • Minimum tertiary level qualification in mining engineering
  • Extensive engineering/operational experience, predominantly in hard rock mining and narrow vein mining (preferred)
