About the role
Maxima are recruiting an experienced Plumber with an approximate start on the 19th of April. Beginning at 6:30am and working through until 3pm. This position undertakes tasks associated with the Capital Works Program, such as construction programs to install new or refurbish existing water and wastewater reticulation infrastructure. The pay for this role is $28.86/hr with 38 hours per week.

Duties:

  • Lead a crew to carry out maintenance on Council water and wastewater reticulation systems
  • Assist in the forward planning and organisation of jobs
  • Undertake maintenance and testing of hydrants and all associated valves and fittings, including backflow prevention devices
  • Ensure that work performed is in accordance with relevant standards adopted by Council
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of plant, both large and small associated with water and wastewater construction and maintenance

Applicants must have:

  • Drivers licence
  • Traffic control card
  • White card
  • Confined working space cert
  • Plumber/drainer licence
  • Work safely at heights cert
  • Backflow prevention cert
  • First aid cert
  • A sound understanding of the requirements of AS 3500 - National Plumbing & Drainage Code and Plumbing & Drainage Act 2002
  • Ability to carry out a variety of manual tasks in conjunction with water and wastewater construction and where directed, i.e. reactive water and wastewater maintenance
  • Ability to prioritise, plan and organise workloads and coordinate the work of others
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, charts and instructions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and under general supervision
  • Effective communication, time management and organisational skills.
  • Exercise good interpersonal skills dealing in a positive manner with the public, other team members, supervisors and management
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Experience in the operation of associated tools and equipment to undertake preventative and reactive maintenance to the water and wastewater reticulation systems.
