The Opportunity:

In response to WRR and Veolia’s continuing growth, we have an opportunity for a Site Manager - Technical, to join our Liquid and Hazardous Waste Team based at our Kalgoorlie WRR site.

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for supervising all functions across the branch and manage the strategy and development of the region.

As the Site Manager - Technical, you will control and coordinate the safe, effective and efficient disposal of dangerous and hazardous goods to meet customer needs across the WA Goldfields Liquid and Hazardous business.

You will also provide technical advice and feedback regarding disposal options and demonstrate a strong safety focus on all tasks in accordance with SHEQ requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pro-actively monitor and supervise the operations within your area of responsibility in accordance with relevant regulations, policy and procedure to achieve desired business performance
  • Supervise employees to ensure that responsibilities are allocated and fulfilled appropriately and that job requirements are clearly understood
  • Manage the P&L for the site to ensure costs are maintained at an acceptable level
  • Liaise with customers and coordinate resolution of issues arising in a timely and effective manner
  • Provide technical support and advice to the team to ensure safe waste treatment and handling procedures
  • Monitor treatment processes for possible improvements to ensure that the company is efficient in using the material coming in for disposal before purchasing chemicals to use
  • Ensure that the team adhere to all safety policies, plans and procedures

You’ll need:

  • A Tertiary Chemistry qualification or relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of chemicals and applicable legislation relating to their use, storage and disposal is desirable
  • Experience managing/supervising a team on site (including rostering and P&L management)
  • An understanding of Western Australian Dangerous Goods Transport and Storage legislation.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on teamwork
  • Strong safety focus with a proactive approach to improving safety and risk management
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral/listening)
  • A valid Driver’s Licence and a Forklift Licence
  • A passion for helping the environment!
