Key Accountabilities Include

  • Provide project technical leadership and project or technical expertise in the specialist area of Hydropower and Dam engineering to meet project needs
  • Assist in the further development of Stantec capabilities in energy and hydraulic modelling
  • Determine client requirements, conduct and manage site surveys and investigations, produce calculations, specifications and drawings to ensure that technical designs provide appropriate solutions
  • Plan, program and coordinate the specific projects as Project Technical Lead with the Project Manager to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards
  • Understand the current and future market and business conditions, revenue and profit potential, and major clients and competitors in the local and regional (Asia Pacific) hydropower and water markets
  • Assist the Client Service Managers and Project Managers, or act in that capacity, with sales strategies and tactics including writing key bids and identifying project managers for these bids
  • Assist project teams in the evaluation of risks and in the preparation and presentation of documents for management risk review
  • Develop, identify and act on business opportunities for the company by use of your speciality and reputation, assist in the positioning and pursuit of targeted opportunities
  • Prepare expressions of interest, proposals, tender documents and contracts, carry out other appropriate marketing initiatives
  • Mentor staff to develop technical capabilities
  • Lead the evaluation and assessment of potential geographies and clients in the region to identify those with the greatest potential return to Stantec consistent with the Stantec risk profile
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, interact with the media, public, and represent Stantec in social, community, and business situations
  • Identify the skill and expertise gaps to meet the current and future market opportunities and agree suitable recruitment or development actions with leadership and business support teams
  • Facilitate the sharing of expertise globally, advise on the appointment of Project Managers in accordance with the principle of best skills for the client on each project


What You Bring
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Professional status with relevant engineering body
  • 15+ years’ experience/history working in the Water Infrastructure sector, in a senior consultancy role specialising in sewer/water network planning projects.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients
  • Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes
  • Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries.
