Your role is to lead a team to deliver solutions while developing software deliverables to support multiple new product initiatives for our IoT Software Solutions group. The IoT Domain Engineering team will develop our Azure Cloud Applications and are accountable for end-end customer experience and metrics/reporting/operations across devices, networks, platform, apps.

In your role, you will be required to develop software using C#.NET, Microsoft Azure and SQL Server using agile practices in a Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CICD) development model. You will be part of a DevOps team, responsible for the full life cycle of Software Engineering - from requirements gathering and refinement through to production support.

This will also include setting the end-to-end technology direction and architectural review for the full IoT software ecosystem across devices, networks, platform and apps, as well as interlocking with various other Telstra Networks & IT teams including, but not limited to, Cyber Security and Cloud Enablement.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead software delivery with a team of engineers
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Be a hands on leader, writing software, reviewing pull requests and developing Azure integrations
  • Design and develop innovative new SaaS solutions for products in Telstra's IoT Domain
  • Develop and maintain cloud platform for SaaS products
  • Timely delivery of solutions to support new products being brought to market.
  • Liaise with mission, product, and platform stakeholders to ensure that all requirements are captured and delivered.
  • Deliver continuous improvement for platform and product lifecycle and delivery
  • Monitor effectiveness of operating arrangements for services and make technology adjustments where necessary and justifiable.
  • Develop, deploy, and improve specific technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems to deliver products and services to customer business units in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Translate customer (internal, external or regulatory) needs and requirements, using technical principles into realisable products, services, or systems and/or networks infrastructure in a timely, quality and cost effective way to ensure operational capability to deliver customer service
  • Perform application performance, load analysis and assist in capacity planning as required to support the solution
  • Review application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements.
  • Technology Assessments and Estimation of new features
  • Provide support for level 3 diagnostic activities and planned upgrade projects
  • Provide support for level 4 diagnostic activities and planned upgrade projects.
  • Be available for rostered support out both during and after business hours

About you

To be successful in the role, you'll need:

  • 8+ years' experience in a software engineering role
  • University Graduate in Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Cloud related (Microsoft / Google / Amazon) certificates desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication and presentation.
  • Demonstrated success in timely and cost-effective delivery of technology integration projects.
  • Specialist experience in developing cloud based solutions specifically in a Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Specialist experience in developing software using C#.NET
  • Experience with DevOps practices
  • Experience in in Software Development Management, Software Architecture, Software Development, Product Development, Intellectual Property Strategy, IoT/M2M Standards, Sensor Networks and Distributed Systems are required.
  • Experience in Cloud Technologies including but not limited to:

Azure Digital Twins,

Azure IoT Hub,

Azure API Management,

Azure Functions (serverless), Containers, Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Detailed understanding of Asynchronous IO programming, Threading, Concurrency, .NET 5, .NET Core, .NET Framework, C#, TypeScript, GIT and testing frameworks.
