About the Project

AIE, part of Squadron Energy Group, is developing the Port Kembla Gas Terminal to facilitate the provision of LNG into the east coast market

The PKGT is strategically located in an existing industrial port located a short distance (13km) from the existing Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) which provides a major natural gas arterial between Victoria and NSW. With construction forecasted to take 18-20 months, putting the project on track to supply more than 75 per cent of NSW’s gas needs by the end of 2022.

About the role

The primary responsibility of the Senior Project Engineer is to provide day to day package management for the dredging and Outer Harbour (OH) Emplacement Cell being performed to support the development PKGT Wharf.

The Senior Project Engineer has a line responsibility to the Construction Manager and functionally responsible to the Engineering and Integration Manager & Contracts Manager. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to, model and promote HSE in line with Company values and HSE objectives
  • Performing project or task management functions as delegated by Construction Manager, including coordination of technical and contract meetings, supervision and coordination with the wider AIE project team.
  • Assisting the Construction Manager in contract, schedule and cost management. Perform effective planning, cost, forecasting and risk inputs to the Project Controls team.
  • Review and facilitate approval of engineering activities planned by the contractor to ensure compliance with the Scope of Work and quality objectives of the project.

  • Assisting the Construction Manager in contract, schedule and cost management. Perform effective planning, cost, forecasting and risk inputs to the Project Controls team.
  • Review and facilitate approval of engineering activities planned by the contractor to ensure compliance with the Scope of Work and quality objectives of the project.

The Construction team must also ensure that the project criteria and scope of work are being met by the design contractors, and proactively manage a complex set of regulatory, land use, design and construction interfaces.

Please note this opportunity is initially a 2-year Fixed Term contract.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • History of representing Owners/Clients on infrastructure projects preferred
  • 15 or more years' experience on relevant projects, particular with a particular focus on engineering oversight of dredging and placement projects
  • Understanding of Australian regulatory instruments and environmental conditions
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector preferred
  • Proven leadership and relationship building skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of and application of relevant Australian Standards
  • Experience with marine engineering preferred
  • Exposure and use of contract management processes and procedures
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office
