Hail Creek Open Cut is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer working a 9 day fortnight roster to support our Maintenance team on site. Hail Creek is a large scale open cut coal mine located roughly 120 kilometres south-west of Mackay in the northern Bowen Basin mining region of central Queensland. With a long mine life of 20+ years, producing both metallurgical and thermal coal products, Hail Creek is an inclusive workplace with a focus on safety, efficiency and productivity.

Reporting to the Planning & Engineering Superintendent, this role provides technical support across all areas of accountability within the maintenance team. You will have sound knowledge of QLD coal mining legislation and relevant Australian Standards in order to facilitate governance and compliance to them. With a drive for continuous improvement and innovation, you will enhance site processes and procedures to advance safety, performance and productivity. Collaboration with stakeholders is key to ensuring capital projects under your control are completed to the appropriate standard, time frame and budget.

To be successful for this position you will have tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or similar with ideally 5 years maintenance experience in open cut mining. Proficiency in CMMS (SAP) and extensive knowledge of mining equipment is desired. You will be highly motivated, possess excellent written & verbal communication skills, and be passionate about establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint will also be an advantage.
