About the role

We are currently seeking an Engineer to join the Dams and Dam Safety Team within Public Works Advisory (PWA), a division of the Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW).

In this role you will be providing engineering advice in the field of dams engineering, focussing mainly on structural engineering. Our projects include regular dams surveillance and reporting, dams safety investigations, and investigations and concept and detailed designs for new dams, raising, strengthening and dam upgrades. Our work typically includes all associated infrastructure, including inlet and outlet works and gates and valves.

Additionally, you will be instrumental in supporting client needs to ensure the delivery of projects having regard to time, cost, quality, safety and environmental targets.

About you

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (civil and structural engineering, environmental engineering) with eligibility for member status of Engineers Australia;
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in structural engineering related to dams and water retaining structures, or civil engineering with a particular focus on aspects of dams engineering, dams surveillance and dam safety studies;
  • Hydraulic engineering related to dams;
  • A working knowledge of relevant structural engineering software, including slope stability analysis;
  • Experience in the structural design of a broad range of civil infrastructure including roadworks, bridgeworks and reinforced and post-tensioned concrete;
  • A valid NSW driver’s licence and a willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
