Full Time Construction Project Manager

Sterling and Wilson Solar Australia has been appointed as the EPC Contractor for multiple projects amounting to $1,4 billion around Australia and is supported by global counterparts.

As a large organisation we have multiple opportunities at 3 levels within this classification of Construction Project Manager.

  • Senior level designation position of a Project Manager / Construction Project Manager/ Project Director: $160k - $220K
  • Medium level designation position of Project Control Manager/ Construction Manager: $130k-$160k
  • Junior level designation position of a Project Planner/ Project Control Manager/ Construction Manager (Elec/Civil/Mech): $105k -$130k

We have multiple opportunities for designations mentioned above in the Solar/EPC environment to join the project team based at multiple locations to include head office in North Sydney and project sites. The position will interact with company management and employees, clients, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead/manage the project team, with authority and responsibility from the project board, to run and manage each assigned project on a day-to-day basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including with contractors, authorities and regulators as required to deliver the project
  • Provide guidance on construction in relation to design through interpretation of design specifications
  • Assume overall authority to co-ordinate and engage key staff within the project construction management team
  • Monitor progress vs schedule and identify and eliminate delay risks prior to delays occurring
  • Collaborate with the construction team (particularly engineers) to ensure commonality in working towards targets
  • Manage all aspects of project cost
  • Create and maintain strong relationships and clear lines of communication with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee the work of subcontractors to ensure it is of high quality in accordance with project requirements
  • Act as a point of contact between subcontracts and clients in relation to construction progress
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all company policies and procedures.

  • Monitoring cost control for all projects and commitment through requisition and invoice review
  • Plans and monitors sequence of project operations for guidance of construction workers.
  • Developing and monitoring project cost forecasts
  • Review and help prepare short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all key players and team members.
  • Evaluate and analyse with team risks and issues compromising project results and develop plans to mitigate them.
  • Weekly progress and identity variance with respect to plan and taking action accordingly
  • Resource planning and optimization
  • Development of Forecast schedule and taking necessary action accordingly
  • Prepared the Project Execution Plan
  • Development of Budget, Monitoring of Cost & Cashflow


Education: Relevant bachelor’s degree/diploma in Engineering


10+ years of experience in execution of large/medium sized EPC projects, in infrastructure / renewable energy / electrical substation transmission lines / Oil & Gas/ utility scale power projects.

PV Solar experience preferred.

Knowledge: IPMA/PMP/Project management certification is highly desirable


-Engineering and Project Management qualifications combined with relevant experience operating at this level, delivering similar style projects within solar/ power /EPC environment or renewable energy

- Strong contractor and contract management capability within solar/power/ EPC environment or renewable energy

-Proven track record of project oversight of project management / construction / planning / cost control

-Experience leading multi-discipline projects involving, mechanical, electrical, civil works

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including written, verbal and presentation) that will allow you to liaise with varied stakeholders in a large complex organisation
