Job Description

In line with new requirements, we now have an exciting opportunity for a professional Mechanical Engineer to join our team here at Rolls-Royce Australia Services. This role will be based with the team on Garden Island in Sydney and will be tasked to undertake mechanical engineering activities associated with the in-service support of Navy Ships for the Australian Navy.

As the Mechanical Engineer, you will have responsibility for the electrical aspects of the following:

  • Providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for all engineering matters and review draft work plans, work schedules, and work lists relating to engineering work and provide comments, recommendation and advice.
  • Collating and reviewing data to assess the health of the System, as defined by the system boundary;
  • Verifying the material condition of the systems and equipment and verifying engineering solutions to solve equipment obsolescence problems as required.
  • Assisting Senior Engineers with the conduct of Technical Investigations and the development of reports to include options, recommendations and ROM, as a minimum.
  • Assisting with reviewing engineering design tasks for replacement of marine equipment and conduct technical Design Reviews.
  • Undertake drafting of technical risk assessments using risk management tools
  • Develop system requirements for Engineering Changes and submit entries in AMPS and CMT-U as appropriate

  • Australian Citizenship is required in order to obtain the necessary security clearance required to effectively carry out this role.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification within Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within the marine sector. Naval and Defense related experience would be an advantage
  • Hold, or be eligible for, membership or graduate membership of a recognized professional body.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and able to work under pressure.
