The opportunity.

Toll Seaquip Burnie are seeking applications for a Trades Assistant to join our service and maintenance division in Burnie.

The purpose of the Trades Assistant is to work seamlessly with trades people to effectively repair and maintain Toll owned and customer owned equipment and provide workshop services to our clients.

You will report to the workshop supervisor and assist in many areas of equipment repairs and maintenance tasks.

Scope of work can include repairs and maintenance of transport equipment and shipping line equipment

Minor Repairs / fabrication and site work can also be required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in repairing transport and shipping line equipment
  • Work in a safe manner at all times
  • Complete time sheets, work sheets.
  • Complete repairs and maintenance as directed
  • Report all damages, faulty equipment or accidents.
  • Maintain a clean safe working environment
  • Conduct and present yourself in an appropriate manner at all times.
  • Participate in OH&S meetings and OH&S Tool Box Meetings.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings

Skills essential to the job:

  • Mechanical experience - Preferred but not essential
  • Welding experience - Preferred but not essential
  • Ability to follow work direction
  • Knowledge of workshop practices
  • Numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills
  • Competent in the use of Hand and Power tools
  • The ability to work in a team environment, as a team member
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Personal standards of honesty and integrity
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Shares information, encourages others, works as a team player.
  • Current Tasmanian Drivers Licence
