About the role


We are currently looking for a front-end Construction Lawyer (3-4+ years PQE) to join our highly regarded Melbourne team. In this role you would:


  • Work for a wide range of clients, encompassing a broad government practice (including both State and Local projects), major local and international contractors and principals;
  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of project documentation, including construction contracts, consultancy agreements and PPPs;
  • Contribute to the team’s business development activities; and
  • Work alongside a range of team members, including Partners Simone Holding, Andrew Pitney and Alicia Sheridan and construction litigation Partners.

Please note that all of our roles are flexible at Maddocks and we are very open to this being a part-time role (3-4 days per week).


About you


In order to be considered, to be successful and thrive in this role, you will:


  • Currently be working as a front-end lawyer in a construction or projects team either in private practice or in-house (you may also be working as a transactional lawyer in another area of law);
  • Have a sound technical legal ability and drafting skills;
  • Have a genuine interest in working in the construction and infrastructure sector;
  • Exhibit a client-focused approach with a deep understanding of commercial drivers; and
  • Be an independent thinker, comfortable learning new concepts quickly and contributing your ideas to discussions.
