Job Summary

Alert Logic, the industry’s first SaaS-enabled MDR (Managed Detection Response) provider, is looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality. The Senior Test Automation Engineer is responsible for Designing, Implementing, Documenting, and Maintaining blackbox (end to end) tests that cover the full product suite from a customer perspective. In addition to test development, the Senior Test Automation Engineer takes part in the Change Management Review and Release Management processes. This role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. Ultimately, you should monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards. Primary Responsibilities

  • Gather and document test case requirements from product owners or other stakeholders
  • Develop test workflows
  • Build test environments to support test requirements
  • Create and schedule automated blackbox (E2E) tests from a user perspective
  • Setup alerting on tests to inform backend teams of issues
  • Implement test result monitoring and reporting
  • Perform regular test maintenance and optimization
  • Review test evidence for proposed software updates to existing products as part of Change Review process
  • Analyze areas in test creation that can benefit from automation to reduce test creation time
  • Implement reusable code to reduce test construction time
  • Perform manual testing as part of UAT participation
  • Perform manual validations pre-UAT on a case by case basis
  • Evaluate Sev2 and Sev3 incidents to detect areas that would benefit from blackbox testing
  • Maintain list of test cases and associated documentation by product feature coverage
  • Periodically evaluate tooling, research and propose improvements to maximize efficiency and simplicity of toolsets for automated testing using industry standard tools where possible
  • Conduct tooling proof of concepts
  • Identify, document and report product feature issues and defects discovered during testing
  • Present progress to team and other stakeholders and colleagues
  • Conduct demonstrations of tests created and related monitoring and metrics

Required Skills And Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in software development or test automation
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Python development
  • Advanced knowledge/experience in web application debugging/testing
  • Intermediate knowledge/experience with AWS Services: Lambdas, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Cloud Formation, S3, EC2
  • Intermediate knowledge/experience with API based troubleshooting and application integration
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases (i.e. white/black box testing)
  • Advanced understanding of automation framework requirements
  • Intermediate knowledge/experience in networking and Linux console
  • Knowledge/Experience in UAT testing – ability to participate and provide feedback and input on use cases
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Intermediate proficiency in communicating verbally and in writing in the English language and willingness to improve those skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in developing presentations for the team and other teams and communicating new concepts
  • General knowledge of IT security technologies, best practices, concepts, and principles
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent knowledge and skills

Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Knowledge/Experience with DataDog and DataDog synthetics is a plus
  • Knowledge/Experience, and browser based testing using tools such as Selenium Webdriver, Lambda test, Sauce Labs, etc.
  • Experience implementing test frameworks and executing blackbox/end to end tests (E2E)
  • Experience deploying security products is a plus
  • Experience with performance testing is a plus
