About the role & team

We have an opportunity for a lawyer to join our growing Property & Projects practice in Melbourne working with a number of highly regarded partners, including John O'Kane. The successful candidate will provide legal services in all aspects of construction including joint venture and development arrangements and construction projects. This includes preparing all types of agreements and documentation required for building and development projects, including joint venture agreements, development agreements, project delivery agreements, consultancy agreements and construction contracts.

We are looking for candidates with at least 4 years' post-admission experience. The role would be well suited to a lawyer with front and back end experience, who has excellent drafting skills, is organised, enthusiastic, client focussed and a good team player.

Our Melbourne Property & Projects team has 26 people and the person in this role will have the opportunity to work closely with partners and other senior team members and will play an important role in managing our junior lawyers and paralegals. Great career development prospects exist for the right person.

Skills and experience

  • 4+ years post admission experience in front and back end construction related matters
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and advising on a range of construction delivery agreements, including the Australian Standard suite of documents
  • Experience in providing dispute avoidance advice, negotiation, SOPA, arbitration and litigation
  • Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal interaction skills
  • High degree of initiative
