The Company

SRK Consulting is an international independent employee-owned consulting practice, providing integrated consulting services to the resource sector.

As an employee-owned company:

  • The team is highly motivated and focused on sustaining our position as an industry leader.
  • Everyone can influence the direction of the company and has the opportunity to develop initiatives.
  • A flat management structure allows for concise and direct decision making.

Our expertise and technical capability covers mining, geotechnical engineering, geology, resources, exploration, tailings, heap leach and waste management.

SRK’s West Perth office is a new, employee focused and engaging space where you can collaborate and socialise with a world class team of professionals. The office is a short walk from transport hubs and connections, shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The business is proud to operate a relaxed, inclusive and nurturing culture in a modern flexible environment. An autonomous, yet team focused, and collaborative dynamic is what you can expect with SRK. Mine Waste is a social team and you will have the opportunity to interact with local, interstate and international colleagues.

The Role

Due to increased demand from our clients within the mining sector, the Perth office is seeking consultant to principal level engineers and/or engineering geologists to support its current and future workload of tailings related projects. You will be part of a dynamic team with a variety of experience and varied backgrounds.

Come be a part of and work alongside a team of rising stars in the tailings industry.

Responsibilities (will vary depending on level of experience):

  • Developing designs for mine waste facilities (tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads and waste dumps) at all stages of mine life from concept to closure.
  • Undertaking engineering analyses such as stability, seepage, dam break and storage capacity/deposition modelling.
  • Preparing technical deliverables including proposals, reports and construction documentation.
  • Overseeing construction and operation of mine waste facilities.
  • Undertaking geotechnical investigations and interpreting results.
  • Liaising with internal and external clients.
  • Working with other team members, local and international specialists from other disciplines and mentoring junior staff.

Our Next Team Member

A passionate, technical orientated person with strong communication skills and experience in geotechnical and/or civil engineering – preferably in the design and/or construction of tailings storage facilities. Candidates with substantial geotechnical experience – although not specifically tailings – will still be considered.

To be considered for the roles, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ post-graduation experience in the same or similar role.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • A relevant engineering qualification recognised by Engineers Australia – CPEng, RPEQ, NER, or equivalent (or be working towards such a qualification).
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and language fluency in English.
  • The right to work in Australia.

What’s on offer:

  • Exposure to a wide variety of diverse, challenging and high-profile projects for both major and mid-tier mining companies.
  • Opportunities and support for career and professional development, including training, education assistance, participation in conferences and seminars, leadership and mentoring, shareholding and directorship.
  • Industry competitive salary package based on level of experience, plus performance bonuses and dividends from shareholding within the company.
  • Shareholding is open to all staff and has previously provided significant returns to staff who have invested – providing an opportunity for all staff to share in the commercial success of the company. Further details will be provided at interview.
  • A flexible work environment open to a variety of working arrangements – eg part-time work, working from home opportunities – and convenient West Perth location.
  • Mentoring – as applicable – by Principal Consultants who are global leaders in their fields.
  • International travel and opportunities to work with the group’s international offices when travel restrictions are lifted.
  • Company mobile phone
  • Relocation for interstate candidates
