Are you an experienced Mining Mechanical Project Engineer seeking a new opportunity to #unleashyourpotential in the WA Mining Industry? One of our clients, a well-known entity in the Western Australian Mining Industry, is seeking the services of Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Chandler Macleod Team on their Port Hedland Site.

This is an initial 6 month labour hire contract FIFO role ex-Perth only on A 5:2 | 4:3 roster with an immediate start. The role is to support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in the delivery of projects that are largely in execution phase so a contracting background or experience managing contractors would be highly regarded.

Typically tasks will include:

  • Provide input into TQs by liaising with stakeholders (BHP technical and project personnel/client)
  • Assist in preparation and getting approval of Execution phase capital documents to the BHP standard
  • Attend meeting Coordinate and site walk through with contractors/consultants
  • and record keeping/ minutes of discussions/actions with vendors contractors and internal BHP (Shut personnel/supervisor/planners/scheduler);
  • Chase-up and review deliverables from vendors and contractors based on SoW;
  • Monitor and control Project schedule/activities (pre-shut and shut);
  • Input into SOW and drawings in pre-shut and shut;
  • Quality assurance on site, fabricator and installer;
  • Regularly review, update and follow up on key project documents Project risk register, variations, action registers, gantt, MDR, ITP, COMP, Project Change notice;
  • Carry out/ support CRAW/ Methodology reviews and support resolution of issues or actions;


Prerequisites include:

  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience/ qualification - Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong initiative and ability to work well in a team
  • Ideally site and shutdown experience delivering projects
  • Previous experience of working on mineral processing plant
  • Experience managing execution contractors
  • Strong verbal communicator
  • High capability technical/ business writing skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop in the role


Candidates must also be able to:

  • Pass a Pre-Employment Medical and Drug Screen
  • Provide a current WA Drivers Licence
