Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd, is Australia’s largest Tin producer. Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin mine now entering an exciting redevelopment period. The Renison mine is located on Tasmania’s beautiful West Coast between the towns of Zeehan and Rosebery.

About the mine

It is an exciting time at the Renison underground mine which has recently announced it’s Life of Mine plan detailing a robust mine life of 10 years. Renison is embarking on a progressive improvement journey to challenge the way we work and optimise our operations to increase our production and transform our mining style. A capital plan of works to construct a paste backfill plant and new ventilation shaft is just some of the work underway to support the journey.

About the role

We are looking for an energetic, results driven Drill & Blast Engineer to join the Technical Services Team. This role will be responsible for executing detailed drill and blast design work, input into production scheduling and identifying opportunities to achieve and improve production outcomes.

The position will be reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent and be part of a team who are focused on working together to deliver improvement. This is a great opportunity to bring your knowledge and expertise to a dynamic and challenging site and further your career development.

This position is being offered is on an “8 days on 6 days off” roster that would suit a professional that is keen to explore Tasmania’s natural beauty.

Core responsibilities

  • Generate blast designs to recover challenging stope geometries, to achieve the Mine Plans
  • Continually endeavour to improve current processes and operational performance
  • Scrutinise performance, reconcile results and diagnose improvement opportunities
  • Generate and engage with Geologists, Geotechs and other Engineers to optimise designs and deliver results
  • Produce safe and effective plans for the operations team to execute your ideas and hard work!

About you

  • Have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Have proven experience in drill and blast planning/scheduling and mine design
  • Practical approach to engineering and design problems

You will have a tertiary education in Mine Engineering or equivalent and strong experience working as a Drill & Blast Engineer preferably at an underground hard rock mine.

Safety is a priority for you, and you actively contribute to making your workplace safe. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, which allows you to build relationships across departments and to communicate at all levels. A working knowledge of Deswik would be well regarded.
